Sociology 3325

  • Enhance the student's basic understanding of society as it relates to deviant behavior.
  • Help the student appreciate that deviant behavior is to a large extent a product of our social structure.
  • Help the student understand man's place, as an individual, in relation to the global magnitude of deviance.
  • Encourage the student to discover the problematic character of trying to enforce control over deviant behavior.
  • Realize the many social implications of deviant behavior as a label imposed by those in power.
  • Learn to see deviance as a natural process in the evolution of human society.
