Special Patricia Davis Scholarships for 2010

Five $1000 scholarships will be awarded in spring 2010 for the summer or the fall session in 2010. Students must complete the application and submit it by March 31, 2009 to Dr. Steve Springer, Program Chair for Occupational Education. Click here for full information.

Patricia Davis Scholarship

Two Patricia Davis scholarships are presented yearly, not to exceed $300 each. Students must submit their application by March 31st each academic year to be considered for this award.

Applications are good for one year only and must be renewed each year prior to the deadline date.

Applications may be obtained at off-campus sites, from the Occupational Education Office on the main campus or click here to access the application in Word format. Students may also call (512) 245-2115 and request an application be mailed to the address they provide.

Qualifications:

  • Students must have an overall GPA of not less than 3.00.
  • Students must demonstrate financial need.
  • Preference is given to a nontraditional female student.

Timothy William Reese Memorial Endowed Scholarship – Occupational Education Program

(Available for the 2009-2010 school year.)

This scholarship honors the memory of Timothy William Reese (1951-2001) and provides financial assistance to students pursuing a BAAS degree through Occupational Education with an emphasis on Business.

Mr. Reese received his degree from Texas State University-San Marcos (formerly SWT) in 1983. He was employed with the Social Security Administration for 31 years. His four children also attended Texas State.

Memorial contributions were made upon the death of Mr. Reese in 2001 by his widow, Claudette Reese. A maximum of $500 a year will be offered, when funds are available. Please contact the Program Chair of Occupational Education to determine whether an award will be made in a given year.

Qualifications:

Award to be presented annually to a student pursuing a degree with Business emphasis through the Occupational Education Program.

  • Student must be enrolled full-time.
  • Student must have junior or senior status with an overall 3.0 grade point average.
  • Student must demonstrate financial need.

The scholarship can be renewed but application needs to be made each year.

Limitations: The principal of the Fund shall remain inviolate. Additional funds may be added to the endowed fund at any time. The Texas State University-San Marcos Development Foundation Investment Committee will be responsible for investing the funds under the guidelines established to achieve the maximum amount of approved earnings and will disburse scholarship awards at the appropriate time.

The scholarship selection committee within the Occupational Education Program, in consultation with a Committee representative from the family, shall select the recipients of the scholarship.

 


Dewain Cobb Scholarships

Two Dewain Cobb scholarships are presented yearly, not to exceed $400 each. Students must submit an application by March 31st each academic year to be considered for this award. Applications are good for one year only and must be renewed each year prior to the deadline date.

Qualifications:

  • Students must have an overall GPA of not less than 2.75.
  • Students must demonstrate financial need.
  • Preference is given to a single head of household.
  • Only students pursuing the BAAS degree are eligible.
