Welcome to the Occupational Education Program

If you have experience in the workforce, you may be able to get credit toward your bachelor’s degree.

The Occupational Education program at Texas State University prepares nontraditional students for careers through high-quality academic, professional and technical programs. Our programs grant credit for experiential learning such as work/life experience; credit for non-collegiate instruction; and credit by exam.

We offer one undergraduate degree — the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences and two graduate degrees — the Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (MSIS) and the Master of Education with a Major in Management of Technical Education (MEd).

Here are some of the reasons this may be the right program for you:

  • We offer courses at convenient times and locations for the working adult.
  • By using past courses and work/life credit, you may be able to complete your entire degree in San Antonio or at the Round Rock Higher Education Center (RRHEC).
  • You can individualize your degree. Faculty advisors work with you in analyzing your strengths and weaknesses, and planning your future career goals.

We invite you to explore our Web site, and we encourage you to meet with one of our advisors to learn more. Call 512.245.2115 (San Marcos), 512.716.4541 (Round Rock), 210.659.0954 (San Antonio) or e-mail occed@txstate.edu.
